Carrara Marble Box From The 19th Century. Rare Marble Apothecary Box From The 19th Century.
Rare white marble apothecary box in Louis XVI style dating from the 19th century.
it is reminiscent of certain viscera boxes from the 18th century.
probably a box intended to preserve the precious products of a pharmacist or an apothecary or even his cash register.
a rare object due to its design, its decoration and its quality of sculpture.
The lid is adorned with a stunning relief sculpture of a serpent coiling around two crossed olive branches. the facade is carved with crossed olive branches tied with a Louis XVI knot.
the sides are carved with Louis XVI rudenté grooves. the whole is symmetrical and garnished at the corners with columns.
the interior has been reupholstered with wood and the small lock is original with a pretty worked key.

a very beautiful work of marble work from the 19th century and of strong Louis XVI inspiration.
some small restorations for use and maintenance, the two small rear legs have been redone. very good state.

a marble box of high quality workmanship and rare on the market.
