Rare white marble apothecary box in Louis XVI style dating from the 19th century.
it is reminiscent of certain viscera boxes from the 18th century.

The lid is adorned with a stunning relief sculpture of a serpent coiling around two crossed olive branches. the facade is carved with crossed olive branches tied with a Louis XVI knot.
the sides are carved with Louis XVI rudenté grooves. the whole is symmetrical and garnished at the corners with columns.
the interior has been reupholstered with wood and the small lock is original with a pretty worked key.
