It is particular because of its age, before the 19th century, probably 1st half of the 18th century, and its blade whose tip is very strongly reinforced. The BLADE is double-edged, 8-sided in section, then diamond-shaped at the tip, with a chiseled pattern in the shape of an "open plant", or "3-branched spear" at the start of the median edge.
Two large sides which narrow towards the point separate the central edge of the cutting edges. The point marks a very strong thickening intended to pierce the mesh ribs. Length of the blade = 19.6 cm, width at the guard 6 cm, thickness near the guard 8.5 mm, thickness at the tip 12.7 mm
HANDLE: It is forged in one single piece with the blade. The outer bars are hollowed out in the shape of a gutter whose concavity faces outwards. This structure makes it possible to reinforce the rigidity of the handle without making the weapon heavier.
The 2 "coils" of the handle are particularly thick and allow a very secure grip, provided you have a hand thin enough to hold between the bars lateral... Because like the majority of katars, this weapon is intended for small hands.
Internal width of the handle 6.5 cm external width = 7.9 cm
This katar gives off an obvious impression of strength, it is clear that it is more of a war weapon than a court weapon. It has a nice patina of age, with certainly a little oxidation on the blade, but this one remains in a very acceptable condition and could be further improved by patient polishing
