Superb and rare large hunting, hunting, cub scouting dagger, from the end of the 18th century, "Manufacture Royale d'Alsace" (Klingenthal), circa 1775. Large curved blade engraved on one side with a name: "GRELDER" , and on the other, two intertwined royal "L" (Louis XV), surmounted by a crowned "R" = period in Klingenthal of the Entrepreneur Louis-Antoine GAU de Vaumarin, from 1765 to 1784. Edge of the blade engraved: "Manufacture Royal of Alsace. Solid molded ebony handle. Hallmarked solid silver guard, representing on one side a deer's head, and on the other a wolf's head; quillons in the shape of hunting dog heads. Hallmarks on the hilt to the general farmers, menus, Paris(?), eagle or griffin head; master goldsmith: "BA", (unidentified). Good condition, logical oxidations on the blade without seriousness; sold without sheath.
