The Axis Deer or Chital is a deer naturally present in the forested regions of India, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Nepal.
It is found in all the reserves of India and has been introduced into Central Europe, Ex-Yugoslavia, Australia, Brazil, Argentina, Uruguay, Texas and Hawaii.
Other chitals and other very fine animals and birds are chiseled in a band as well as trellis friezes.
A wide band of calligraphy surrounds the body of the pelvis.
The whole is in very good condition. Origin: Northern India.
