Eduardo PISANO (1912-1986) Oil on canvas on wooden frame in 10P format, i.e. 55X38 cm Animated landscape of characters perhaps religious Signed at the top right. Some minor cracks to report. Circa 1950 Born in 1912 in Torrelavega. Active in France. Spanish Painter of figures, flowers. Expressionist, abstract tendency. His modest parents, Castilian horticulturists, entrusted him to monks at a very young age. The child, who had to give up his hikes on the Cantabrian coast, quickly demonstrated his artistic tastes. At fourteen he enrolled at the School of Fine Arts in Torrelavega. At eighteen, Pisano went to Madrid and its museums for a complete cultural training, even practicing the chisel. In the turmoil that shook Spain and the world, the beginning of his career gave way to an eleven-year mobilization. In 1945, peace found him in Bordeaux where he painted, and which he left in 1948 to "go up" to Paris and settling in Montaparnasse. He became one of the figures of this district, but an inveterate bohemian, saw the success of exhibitions alternate with distress and isolation. A retrospective of his work was represented in Saint-Cloud in 1974.
