Large polarizing microscope used for petrography and mineralogy signed "Ernst Leitz Wetzlar" and numbered "352680". The microscope dates back to the 1930s. It is the largest of the petrographic models marketed by Leitz during the 1930s. The optics, prisms and all the mechanisms are in perfect state of conservation and functioning. The microscope has retained a number 8 wide-field eyepiece and a number 1 objective. The assembly is preserved in its original transport box. In Leitz catalogs from the 1930s, this microscope was described as "Large universal microscope with optical tube and substage for polarized light"
