Marcelle Ladeuil began painting at the dawn of the 1920s. A traveller and adventurer, she criss-crossed Scandinavia, Central America and the Pacific islands. Enjoying depicting exotic landscapes, she set up her easel in the Norwegian fjords as well as in the midst of southern landscapes. Exhibiting at the Salon des Indépendants from 1928, Marcelle Ladeuil showed landscapes, still lifes and animated scenes.
In her search for light, the artist appreciated unusual compositions. Our painting, in which a chicken proudly poses next to a shell, is a reminder of the days of long voyages.
