"Napoleon III Clock. Bronze "the Woman With Bones" "
Black marble clock, mid-19th century, with so-called "Paris" mechanism surmounted by a bronze with medium brown patina The woman with knucklebones, young woman dressed in antique style in a dreamy attitude playing knucklebones, after a marble model of ancient Rome: Julie daughter of Titus, preserved in the Berlin Museum. The sides of the marble are decorated with a bronze frieze depicting women walking towards wisdom. The mechanism is complete and in working order, 2 numbers are missing from the dial (we are working to remedy this). The bronze is not signed, it is originally attached to the marble and has never been dismantled.
