Cartel Clock Tortoise Shell Marquetery Hersant 1869

Luminous cartel from the Napoleon III period in the Louis XIV style. regency signed and dated on the plate of the movement "Hersant 1869 Paris", watchmaker referenced in the Tardy, dictionary of watchmakers.

Architecture covered with a magnificent red veneer nuanced with black in tortoi**shell accompanied by marquetry in the Boulle technique, composed of gilded brass with scroll motifs. Elegant quality ornamentation in gilded and chiseled bronze with eagle corner motifs, fleurons, female masks and antique basins.

Chiseled bronze dial set with twelve cartridges enameled in white enamel, the whole is protected by a curved glass.

Original movement without modification, striking the hours and half-hours on an old bell.

The marquetry has benefited from a buffer varnish providing contrast, shine and protection.
