"Potiche With Birds, Fantastic Animals And Flowering Tree, Delft 18th Century"
Vase with birds, fantastic animals and flowering tree, Delft 18th century. Large gadrooned vase on short base in Delft earthenware dating from the end of the 17th century or beginning of the 18th century. Painted in 3 colors, blue and green with red enamels, of good size, this covered pot has so-called rotating decorations, decorated with flowering trees, birds with long tails, butterflies as well as fantastic animals, a kind of chimera throwing up flowery scrolls. The entire decor is Asian-inspired, the tree with blooming flowers reminding us of prunus and the fantastic animals which remind us of the red Phoenix, one of the 4 mythical animals of Feng shui. The lid, also gadrooned, features the same animals and is finished with a fô dog. AK red mark below. Small chip at the edge of the collar. Dimensions: Height: 54 cm
