Rare Serpentine Dog After The Jennings Dog circa 1850 The Jennings Dog (literally: Jennings dog), also known as the Duncombe Dog or Alcibiades Dog, is a marble sculpture representing a seated dog. It could be a representative of the breed of dogs from the country of Molossians, in Epirus. This work found in Rome perhaps reproduces a Hellenistic bronze. It owes its name to the British antiquary Henry Constantine Jennings who acquired it in the late 1750s and transported it to England. In 2001, the British Museum appealed for donations to acquire the sculpture h20 x 17 x 12
