Meissen Porcelain Mirror Decorated With Putti And Flowers, 19th Century

Germany (Porcelain Manufacture) - In the spirit of the beautiful and suave creations of Rocaille finery from the Meissen Manufacture, charming little oval-shaped two-tone mirror set in a polychrome enameled porcelain frame on a milky white background. Hemmed on its internal perimeter and its margin of listels, fine combed purple pink highlighting ornamental motifs in half-relief of Rocaille inspiration (shells with wavy or rounded edges), the porcelain piece is coquettishly scalloped on its pediment and its lower part multi-lobed with a pastillage of leafy stems, flowers with petals in buds or in bloom. Their complexions with soft tones - combining bright yellows or oranges with mauve or pink hues brightened with bright or soft greens - give the whole a deliciously romantic touch. Visual sensation reinforced by the presence on the shoulder of the mirror of two delightful childish figures with gracefully modeled chubby shapes. Vaporously dressed, these twirling Cherubs or little Zephyrs with dreamy faces delicately enliven this decorative porcelain piece with a spring theme. Carefully executed, it will seduce with its small proportions, its noticeably fretted shape, its discreet chromatic palette as well as its exquisite softness. Its reverse is adorned with a plaque of ebonized pear wood in the shape of a hanging ring.
