Historical figure of the 6th century, Antar, son of a nobleman and a black slave from Hejaz, was despised throughout his life because of his illegitimate origin and the color of his skin.
He owes his fame to his poems, which are among the most famous in pre-Islamic Arabic literature, but above all to his love for his cousin Abla, whose hand he ends up obtaining by proving all his qualities as a hero.
At the base of the base, we find a cartouche in Arabic, on the side we find the signature of the sculptor Desurmont and at the back we have a reference 43 105640.
Very good condition.
There are some slight gaps on the base, a lack of gilding at the top left of the plaque and a very slight mark on Abla's back.
French work from the end of the 19th century, signed by the sculptor Ernest Desurmont (1870-1930) and attributed to the manufacturer Friedrich GOLDSCHEIDER.
