In 1935 in Besançon, he married the painter Suzanne de Jaegher.
He exhibited a wooden bas-relief at the Pavillon de Franche-Comté at the Specialized Exhibition in 1937, and a sculpture entitled Tree of Peace at the New York International Fair of 1939-1940. Rey exhibited regularly at the Salon des Artistes Français, where he won gold (1937), silver (1933) and bronze (1932) medals. He is a member of the jury of the Salon des Arts Décoratifs.

But he works mainly in his home region: the Jura.
