Marble head representing Diadumenes, an athlete girding his forehead with a ribbon, the “stéfanos”, as a sign of his victory at the Olympic Games. Made by the Greek sculptor Polykleitos, this sculpture is one of the sculptures that follow the canon established by Polykleitos for the ideal proportion of the male human figure, according to which the total height of the statue is equivalent to one to seven times the height of his head .
