Painter of landscapes, seascapes, port landscapes, water landscapes.
Orientalist tendency.
He worked mainly in Rouen, but also in Paris and Venice. Some of his orientalist landscapes are treated in a thick paste which tends to blend the shapes. He is nicknamed the Delacroix of landscape.
His paintings are mostly small formats on cardboard like ours.
