"Museum Object: Tailor's Scissors With Indian Heads, 16 Or 17th Century"
Superb and heavy scissors, indestructible, forged in two parts joined by a kind of fluted iron axle, undoubtedly with internal thread, identical blades with triangular profile and long upper groove, like a weapon, middle part around axis is worked of a very decorative cutout, the rings are, as in locksmithing at period, a long thick rod curved around the end of anvil, each is decorated with a needle of pretty studding, and , four feathered heads with open mouths seem to emerge from steel, at bottom and top of these rings. Each blade bears the cutler's stamp: G.
Interesting scissors, their rarity and my limited culture does not allow us to announce a credible origin, I leave that to collectors.
Quite good condition, wear, some little play, fairly imperfect polishing.
Dimensions = 19.5cm and 9cm. Weight: 200gr
