Very large vase from the end of the 20th century by Alain Girel. Exceptional piece in size, height 110cm and quality of construction giving an undeniable decorative effect. A characteristic work of this great ceramist for its side inspired by Italy with its medallions with Mediterranean landscapes and its cypresses facing the heavens. A rare work in these dimensions, it will sit majestically in a collection of La Borne and Alain Girel. Alain Girel was the elder of Jean Girel, another great ceramist known like him throughout the world. Born in 1945 in Chambéry, he died in 2001 in Chasselas. He settled in La Borne in 1973 and was at the origin of the first La Borne Symposium in 1977. François Mitterand bought vases from him for gifts from the Presidency of the Republic.
