Singing Bird Cage By Bontems (paris) flag

Object description :

"Singing Bird Cage By Bontems (paris)"
Rare and very decorative singing bird automaton. Made in the 4th quarter of the 19th century by Bontems in Paris (France). This high quality songbird has a gilded wooden base to seal the mechanism. The cage contains 3 original birds in a beautiful configuration. There is a small (kracked) mirror in the background of the scene suggesting a small pond. The birds are all in very good condition, with brightly colored feathers. When activated, the birds all sing a song, one responding to the other, with a little pause every now and then... all the birds move their heads, and, while singing, their beaks and tail. High value lively decorative piece. Fits into every home or collection. If you're looking for a piece to spark conversation, impress your visitors or simply appreciate the 19th century art of moving automata, look no further, this is it!
