Louis Matifas trained at the School of Fine Arts in Amiens then with Antoine Vollon. He specializes in landscape and flower painting. Between 1876 and 1881, he exhibited annually at the Paris Salon (Bénézit, vol. 9, Paris, Gründ, 1999, p. 357). Several of his works appear in the collections of French museums.
