"Case Post Flores Islands Indonesia"
Rare hut post carved in ironwood, representing a female character resting on a decorated circular base, it is a representation of an ancestor guarding the entrance to the huts and used to chase away evil spirits. Our sculpture was certainly part of an originally larger pole, the latter being able to reach several meters in height. Numerous signs of bad weather, breaks, losses and accidents, however, add real character to this object. Former French Paris collection. Indonesia early 20th century or older
