"Brittany Painting “cancale” Antonin Ponchon"
Antonin Ponchon (Terrenoire 1891- Celle-sur-Seine 1965) “Cancale” (Brittany) 1951, oil on canvas, 54 x 65 cm (with frame 69 x 79.5 cm) Antonin Ponchon was a student at the Beaux-Arts in Lyon as well than at the Lyon Conservatory of Dramatic Art. A founding member of the Ziniar group in 1920 and of the Salon du Sud-Est in 1925, he founded with the art critic Marius Mermillon the Galerie des Archers which welcomed the great names of French painting. Some of his paintings appear in the Paul Dini museum collection in Villerfanche-sur-Saône and at the Museum of Fine Art in Lyon.
