Very beautiful canoe prow in the shape of a crocodile's head, entirely engraved with tribal designs typical of the Iatmul area in Papua New Guinea. Today, the canoe remains the most common means of transport in the Sepik River valley. Most of these canoes used in the lower and middle Sepik regions have a sculpted bow representing the head of a crocodile, an animal feared and revered.
