Large original pastel on canvas (F6 format, 400 x 320 mm), protected by glass and placed in a black American box.
It represents a Columbine in love with a Pierrot performing the symbol of the female sex with his hands, in the light of the moon.
Signed lower left.

Louis Morin (1855-1938), French painter, caricaturist and author. After studying with his father, he studied sculpture, architecture and drawing. Founder of the Society of Cartoonists and author of a Monograph on Cartooning, he also created wall decorations, notably the dome of the Printemps store (now destroyed). Author-illustrator of albums for children and bibliophiles, he wrote three plays and created the silhouettes for Chinese shadow theater of the Black Cat. (Osterwalder, Dictionary of Illustrators 1800-1914).
