Painter born on 21 March 1848 in Frýdštein in Bohemia, died on 20 November 1910 traveling to Ancona. He studied in Munich (1869) with K. Piloty; in the decade 1870-80 he abandoned historical painting to dedicate himself to genre painting, depicting scenes of Prague life. The trip made to Italy by K. in 1879 marks a definitive evolution in his artistic direction. Enthusiastic at the sight of the sea, he painted only seascapes, populating them with mythological figures. Having settled in Italy, he organized personal exhibitions in 1908-09 and exhibited at the Parisian Salons. His paintings can be found in the Modema Art Gallery and at the Society of Friends of Homeland Art in Prague.
