PENITENT MAGDALENE, oil painting on canvas from the 17th century within a contemporary marbled frame.
The painting intensely describes a Penitent Magdalene with the usual iconographic attributes. Her long blond, curly hair, her eyes full of tears turned to the sky to seek contact with her beloved Christ, while in her hands she holds the vase with the ointments, a clear reference to the figure of Saint her. Around her neck she wears a torn pearl necklace, as a sign of renouncing earthly pleasures and her own femininity. In fact, Magdalene depicts the sinner's repentance and unconditional love for God.
