Hubert-Denis ETCHEVERRY (Bayonne 1867- Bayonne 1952) "Bouquet of flowers" Oil on canvas Signed and dated 1887 top left Covered L: 40.5 cm x H: 32.5 cm Youthful work of Hubert-Denis Etcheverry , born in Bayonne on September 21, 1867, and died in his hometown on April 3, 1952. A student of Achille Zo at the municipal drawing school of Bayonne, he was placed first in the entrance exam to the École des beaux -arts of Paris, where he entered the workshop of Léon Bonnat and Albert Maignan. He won a second Rome Prize in 1891 with a painting entitled Jupiter and Mercury received by Philémon and Baucis. He is the author of famous paintings of manners and numerous portraits. In 1913, Etcheverry exhibited Sous le masque, at the Salon des artistes français, the work was popularized thanks to the postcard format. The work of Hubert-Denis Etcheverry is exhibited in numerous museums in France and abroad.
