Eugène BERINGUIER (1874-1949) "Orientalist street scene" Oil on canvas cardboard, protective glass. Workshop stamp on the back, 27 x 33 cm. Beautiful Montparnasse frame in art deco style. He was born on July 17, 1874 in Toulouse and worked in Dordogne but also in North Africa. Some of his works are kept at the Musée des Augustins and in Bagnères-de-Bigorre. Eugène Béringuier is the student and collaborator of Jean-Paul Laurens and Benjamin-Constant. He performed historical scenes and painted frescoes for churches. Also noteworthy is his work for the Clichy council chamber. He exhibited at the Salon from 1900 to 1925. He died on January 5, 1949 in Castelnau Fayrac in Dordogne.
