The shaker rests on a slender silver pedestal, decorated with gadroons and a second rocaille skin.
The body is made of two layers of glass, the first of pink-purple glass is cleared with acid to reveal the slightly green uraline glass which shines particularly well in Wood's lamp.
Uraline is a glass in which uranium has been incorporated. It is safe for health and has a superb color varying from yellow to green, which fluoresces under ultra violet light.
The Baccarat crystal factory has produced objects in uraline, notably with these acid-etched patterns evoking frosted glass on which flowering branches enhanced with gold are left in reserve.
The neck and the cap are also in solid silver, with vegetal decoration.
The frame is hallmarked:
. Minerva 1st title before 1973 for 950/°° silver
. Goldsmith's mark: CV with weight for Charles Vincent, active between 1889 and 1922
Magnificent shaker with very rare uraline glassware by the famous Baccarat crystal maker highlighted by a magnificent solid silver setting. The finely acid-etched decoration and the slender pedestal make this shaker a superb collector's item, full of elegance.
