earthenware inkwell with enameled painted decoration mark on the side of the Saint Clément factory design by Emile Gallé circa 1880 - 1890 model from the series of heraldic lions here an inkwell with the arms of the town of Aurillac the lion holding a shield flanked by one side by a helmet serving as a pen holder, the other by a crenellated tower serving as an ink reservoir, all resting on a scrolled base with a painted plant and insect decoration complete with all its elements and in particular the lid of the inkwell on the tower which is very often missing in good condition beautiful freshness of the colors and the glaze note a small illusionistic restoration inside the feather holder helmet as well as one of the merlons of the tower small cooking bubbles and lack of enamel on the feet beautiful example of earthenware from the period known as Emile Gallé in Saint Clément beautiful complete and richly decorated model (some are simpler or less well painted because they are later) all questions welcome careful delivery
