"Communicant In Wax – Diorama – 19th Century - Religiosa"
Wax subject of a communicant in its original glass parallelepiped box. Beautiful 19th century diorama. The character rests standing on a wooden base reading “LONG LIVE JESUS”. The communicant is in the center of the box, behind a pair of small curtains; dressed in a white dress, she opens her arms and holds a paper crucifix in her right hand. Frame dimensions: 27.5 x 21.5 x 9.5 cm. The patina of the wax brings an ancient charm to this diorama, which fortunately has reached our time; wax subjects frequently melted, literally speaking. Defects of wear and tear visible in photos: rubbing of the edges of the wooden box and paper lining the window. Slight damage to the wax on the left hand (shortened fingers) and color of the wax on the face faded over time.
