Albert Thiry (1923-2009) arrived very young in Vallauris, he spent his school holidays in the town's pottery workshops. From 1956, he worked for 6 years as a decorator in the workshop of Claire and René Batigne who run the Tapis Vert workshop, then he created with his wife Pyot Gavaudan (who previously worked at the Giraud workshops, as a decorator and model maker) their own workshop in 1961. Only the large pieces are signed Thiry, the utility pieces are not are not signed but are nevertheless very recognizable.
