"Pair Of Cane Armchairs Stamped Drouilly"
Pair of caned armchairs in beechwood, resting on 4 cambered legs richly carved with foliage and stylized shells.

The front and side rails are also embellished with carvings of rocaille, foliage, florets and shells.

These carvings are repeated on the arm brackets, arm heads and on the upper crosspiece of the backrest.

The canes are in good condition, and the seat is upholstered in fawn-colored leather with petit fer decoration.

Parisian work of the Louis XV period, stamped by Claude-François DROUILLY, circa 1750.

Height: 94 cm
Width: 65 cm
Depth: 57 cm

Claude-François DROUILLY, received his master's degree on July 27, 1748, and remained in the business for some twenty years. A chair carpenter based on rue de Charenton, he left a number of fine works in walnut and carved beech, most of them caned. Some of them, like our armchairs, are still inspired by the spirit of the Regency period.
