Signed by Jacques de Sève (active 1742 – 1788) who was a French artist and illustrator, engraved by Catherine Haussard and François Hubert around 1770.
De Sève was commissioned by Georges-Louis Leclerc, Count of Buffon to provide the illustrations for the Natural history, general and particular (1749-1778, in 36 volumes) then the Collection of Twenty-four Plants and Flowers by Buffon (1772).
He also illustrated works by Duhamel du Monceau, Claude Perrault and parts of the Encyclopédie Méthodique.
