Oil on canvas depicting a shepherdess with her flock of sheep in front of a mountain lake in the Alps by Theodore LEVIGNE (1848-1912) famous french artist specialist of genre scenes and landscapes and animals. He had a successful career in Lyon and regularly took part in exhibitions and salons where he would display his artwork. Several French museums own some of his paintings. 
original canvas which measures 130cm wide by 97cm high and with the frame the painting measures 159cm by 117. 2 very small repairs on the canvas invisible on the painted side. 
Very decorative painting with nice colors and a well painted mountain landscape
