"Painting By Georges Jeannin (1841-1925) “flowers On An Entablature”"
Superb and rare large format painting by Georges JEANNIN representing a rich entablature of multiple flowers, extremely decorative, with its original black ebony frame with stylized gold decoration, on its original canvas, signed lower left. A great specialist in floral compositions, these bouquets are treated with broad brush strokes in a generous paste, in the impressionist manner from 1880, the period of our painting. He was a student of Victor VINCELET, STARTED AT THE SALON OF 1868, and there exhibited regularly, obtained an honorable mention in 1876 and a medal of 3 class in 1878, a second in 1888. At the universal exhibition of 1889 and that of 1900, he received a bronze medal for these exhibited works, and the legion of honor in Paris also in 1903. Particularly renowned and gifted for representing flowers in these still lifes, he also carried out with Achille CESBON the decoration of the salon du passage at the Paris City Hall. Member of the Society of French Artists in 1878, he was also a professor at the Academy of Fine Arts of the Flower.
