19th Century White Marble Sculpture “la Baigneuse” Inspired By Falconet flag

Object description :

"19th Century White Marble Sculpture “la Baigneuse” Inspired By Falconet"
A charming white marble sculpture depicting a young maiden preparing to bathe, inspired by the famous marble “Nymphe qui Descend au Bain” (also known as “La Baigneuse”), by Etienne-Maurice Falconet, presented at the Salon of 1757, and currently on display at the Louvre. Beautifully crafted, this pure white statue exudes grace and sensuality as the naked young woman appears to delicately test the water with her foot, her hand resting on a foliage- wrapped tree stump for support, and her robe entwined around her thigh. Full of fine detail and sensual expression, “La Baigneuse” shows signs of historical restoration to her neck, but is otherwise in excellent vintage condition.
