"Jian, Chinese Sword, Damascus Blade, China, Second Half Of The 19th Century"
The blade is engraved with the line 青鋒劍 Qīng fēng jiàn, literally: sword with a green edge, probably referring to the damascus that makes up the blade. The strong blade is inlaid with seven small perforated copper pellets, a rare finish. Arranged in this way, they represent the constellation of the Big Dipper and are supposed to circulate vital energy, called Qi, during practice. Black lacquered wooden scabbard with brass fittings.
Good condition, small shock to the fuse, patinated lacquer. Damascus steel, brass, copper, wood, lacquer.
