"Pair Of Large Bronze Covered Vases In The Taste Of Clodion"
Exceptional pair of large covered vases in gilded bronze and brown patina presenting a rich bas relief decoration of neoclassical inspiration appearing in friezes of bacchanals of putti, satyrs, rams...The handles are in the shape of a bearded satyr sticking out its tongue.
Large fluted lids, asparagus and foliage, an exotic berry at the top.
The square base is topped with a crown of braided foliage in gilded bronze
Chiseling work of exceptional quality, attributable to a Parisian bronzier like Henry Dasson. Traces of signatures behind the satyrs' horns, a D preceded by an I or H, which could confirm the attribution.
Very good condition, superb patina, no shock or accident.
