Object description :

"Rare And Beautiful “fede Ring” In Silver From The 17th Century"
Rare and beautiful “fede ring” (“fede”, committed faith) in silver from the 17th century, with a bezel formed by two joined hands.

This motif of two joined hands (dextrarum junctio), already in use in ancient Rome (we can see it for example on the reverse of certain aurei or denarii), is a symbol of faith, promise of vows and fidelity.

These rings were notably used as wedding rings.
