Object description :

" Igor Mitoraj (1944-2014) - Asclepios "
Igor MITORAJ (1944-2014) "Asclepius" - Green patina bronze bust mounted on a travertine base. Signed and numbered B0409/1000 - A slight shine on the travertine base - With its certificate of authenticity Total height: 48 cm - Bust height: 37 cm - This incomplete bust, which seems to have come from an ancient excavation, is not not unlike the fragments of ancient sculptures kept in the Capitoline Museum in Rome. On the chest, a tenon recalls a trace of construction as on a marble like the one holding the hand of Michelangelo's David. A little further down, a window opens onto a heart, reminding us that behind the memory of a body frozen in bronze, we must recall the living heart of humanity. If Igor Mitoraj chose to name his sculpture “Asclepius », named after the god of medicine who resurrected the dead, it is perhaps to send a message of hope to Man
