"Bronze Plaque - Woman - By André Belo (1908-1976)"
Bronze plaque - Woman - by André Belo (1908-1976) Bronze plaque with golden patina representing a naked woman lying in relief Signature lower left Visible at the Galerie Courcelles Antiquités, at 97 rue de Courcelles, in the 17th arrondissement of Paris. Born in 1908 and died in 1976, André Belo is a French sculptor, student of Jean Boucher and Maillol. He created models of medals for Erik Satie and Charles Dullin at the Hôtel de la Monnaie, bas-reliefs but also more artistic compositions, which he presented at the Salon de la Jeune Sculpture from 1945 until the beginning of the 1970s. It is distinguished by its modern lines, on the borders of figuration, surrealism and abstraction, in a stripping of forms, inspired by both Laurens and Brancusi. The representation of humanity, around themes such as women, couples, motherhood, remains her favorite theme. But he also sculpts some animals, like his “Firebird”, a bronze proof of which is kept at the Museum of Modern Art of the City of Paris.
