Large Polychrome wooden Christ, 16th century
This Christ presents thick and muscular torso and arms that contrast with more slender lower part of the body, where legs are hardly bent with right leg moving onto the left one to allow superimposition of internal rotation feet. Over a round belly rib cage appears in strong relief, shaped with deep ridges. Arms are slightly raised with closed hands. The head, wearing a twisted crown of thorns, shows a face with emaciated traits and closed eyes.
Perizonium has the particularity to be placed very low, knotted on the front on the top of thighs, with a bigger flap on left side.
Very good condition. The nail on the feet is missing and on the back a part of left foot is broken. Present polychromy is more recent, there are some remains of previous polychromies.
