Very Beautiful Pewter Wine Pitcher - Etampes, 18th Century

PICHET with pewter shoulder with oblique plinth foot, cup on straight heel and S-shaped thumbstool with molded crest and creeping tongue.
Incompletely legible control mark with crowned C.
Beautiful hallmark of Louis CLERET received by master before 1756: crowned hammer / LC / E. (LC are the initials of the master, and E that of the city)
Height: 27.7 cm.
ETAMPES, Third quarter of the 18th century

Exceptional copy, absolutely superb in quality and condition, in the largest gauge for this center where witnesses of its production are only very rarely encountered....Sixth copy noted in nearly fifty years of research for old pewters.
