"Large 19th Century Canton Dish."
Great Chinese dishes seem to be a little rarer than Japanese dishes. This one, without reaching the size of the very large Imari dishes, is of a very respectable size: 41 cm in diameter. The composition of the decor is relatively classic with a center decorated with a motif of flowers and foliage. Around, six reserves that could be said in the shape of triangles with alternating decoration of living scenes and decoration of flowers, foliage and birds. It should be noted that in each series of three, the setting is different each time. The characters, mostly women, are positioned differently in each reserve and the same is true of the birds. The lightness of the dish and the delicate clarity of the chromatic palette suggest a production from the first half of the 19th century. This beautiful piece is ready to join your collection of Chinese porcelain or to adorn a wall or sideboard in your interior.
