"19th Century Louis XVI Style Demi Lune Giltwood Console Table"
An exceptional Louis XVI-style giltwood demi-lune console table, with a grey and white veined marble top. Fabulously carved throughout, it features an ornate floral frieze around its belt, bordered with intricately detailed repeating motifs and 'string of pearls' beading. The tapering legs are elegant and fluted, topped with cascading foliage, and ornamented with square-shaped rose-carved capitals where they meet the belt. They are joined by an X- shaped stretcher, its bars carved and fluted, and bearing at its centre a magnificent two- handled urn filled with fruit and flowers. The semi-circular marble top is shaped and stepped along its edge, and does show some very minor age-related chipping.
