"Two Gaucho Saddle Plates - Argentina - Circa 1900"
Two Gaucho Saddle Plates
Argentina, circa 1900
Silver-plated metal
H. 5, 25 cm long
H. 13, 34.5 cm long
(wear from use)

These embossed silver plates were used to decorate the saddles of Gaucho riders. They both bear the name "Paulista" in capital letters, centred around a decoration of foliage and flower buds.

The larger piece bears the words "Metalbranco Garantido 29", accompanied by the shooting star hallmark.
