"Virgin And Child In Wood "
We present this delightful wooden sculpture, representing the Virgin and Child treated in the Gothic style, very nervous in the folds and very fine faces. We date it from the Viollet-le-Duc period around 1830/1840, a period where older themes were taken up, especially the Middle Ages. This is a crowned Virgin, unfortunately the crown on the back is broken but thank God the front is intact. The wood used is a soft wood, perhaps basswood. Weight 926 gr (E24A)
