Rare medal-box in finely chiseled gilded brass decorated with the profile portrait of General of the Empire Maximilien Sébastien Foy*, engraved "THE MODEL OF ORATORS - LIVED FOR THE HOMELAND", containing 16 engravings "dithyramb pronounced on the tomb of General Foy by M. Viennel; this work is at Remé Rue Beaubourg n° 13, vintage circa 1825 19th century. This medal is in good condition. It therefore contains 16 detached engravings (see photos). On the reverse of the box, it is engraved "JEMMAPES - WATERLOO. Altar between the Alpha and the Omega, urn inscribed FOY/ DECEASED/ ON 25 NO/ 1825 and below HONOR/ TO GENERAL FOY". In 1807, he was sent to Constantinople to organize the Turkish artillery and distinguished himself in the defense of the Dardanelles against the British fleet He received the 15th wound of his career at Waterloo on June 18, 1815.
