Claudio Castelucho y Diana (1870-1927)
Born in Barcelona, he is the son of the decorator/ stage designer Antonio Castelucho.
Coming to work in Paris at a very young age, he quickly gained notoriety in the Montparnasse district, where he became a professor at the famous painting academy "La Grande Chaumière".
He exhibited in 1897 at the Salon des Artistes Français, and in 1913, he participated in a major exhibition of Modern Art at the Galerie Moos in Geneva.
Employing a sober chromatic palette with strong contrasts as well as a schematization of shapes, this gives his works a precise, powerful and modern dynamic.
